Ani has a successful multi-disciplinary criminal practice encompassing serious and complex crime, financial services and public inquiries.
She prosecutes and defends in the Crown Courts across London and on circuit. Ani is regularly instructed in a wide range of criminal offences including Class A drug offences, serious sexual offences, complex fraud and violence. Ani shows an ability to make people feel at ease during the most challenging of times whilst maintaining a courtroom manner that has earned her the respect of both judges and opponents alike. Ani has been described as having ‘a calm and confident manner in court who is a formidable opponent’. She is meticulous in her case preparation and provides an outstanding level of dedication and commitment to every case. She is known for fighting difficult cases and her approach has been shown to resonate with juries.
Ani has particular expertise in evidence review, disclosure and Legal Professional Privilege in large scale investigations, including the Infected Blood Inquiry (instructed by the Government Legal Department) and the Post Office sub postmaster appeals. She has been instructed in several operations to act as independent counsel, and has advised the HMRC, Serious Fraud Office, National Crime Agency and the CPS on whether material is subject to LPP.
