James is a confident and capable advocate who has a rigorous attention to detail and an easy manner with clients. 

James regularly appears in the Crown, Magistrates’ and Youth courts in London and on the South Eastern and Western Circuits. In the Crown Court James has been instructed to represent defendants at trial charged with offences of violence (s.18 GBH and s.47 ABH), dishonesty (robbery, conspiracy to burgle, burglary, fraud and theft), drugs (possession with intent to supply class A) and sexual offences (voyeurism and exposure). James also has experience of Courts Martial and prosecutes on behalf of TFL.

In March 2016 James was seconded to the Serious Fraud Office as independent LPP counsel in a large bribery and corruption investigation.

Prior to pupillage James worked in financial reporting and controls for a major retail bank, in the anti-fraud division at the International Chambers of Commerce and taught English law to German undergraduate students at Bucerius Hochschule für Rechtswissenschaft in Hamburg, widely regarded as Germany’s leading law school.
